Copywriter / Storyteller for the Web
Part-time employee preferred, but a contractor/freelance role is also possible.
Overview
In this client-facing position, you will work on website projects for nonprofit clients working to make the world a better place by solving difficult challenges. Working from the Content Plan and draft copy, you’ll write engaging, storytelling-type content designed to be read on a web page. You should be a versatile writer, skilled at writing for different styles and tones of voice.
Typical deliverables include copy drafts, outlines, and final copy.
Specifics
Hourly rate: $30-40/hour

Location: Virtual office. U.S. time zones preferred.

What you’ll do in this role:
- Come up with storytelling arcs
- Write in the style of the client’s style guide
- Turn draft copy into engaging and compelling text written to be read on a web page
- Collaborate with the design team to “marry” the copy with the design
- Write “alt” text for images
- Participate in internal reviews and client meetings to present the content and explain the process/thinking used to arrive at your solution
- Track KPIs and conduct project post-mortems to understand project results, and identify wins, and areas for learning and improvement
- Contribute to improving our processes and becoming ever more efficient
What you bring to Wire Media:
EXPERIENCE
- 3-5+ years’ experience in copywriting for digital experiences with storytelling
- Experience managing multiple projects while delivering projects on time, within budget, and meeting or exceeding expectations
- Experience collaborating and communicating with various teams
- Experience working with various types of “tone of voice” or style direction
- A strong portfolio of work focused on storytelling for the web
KNOWLEDGE
- Expert understanding of best practices in content strategy and writing for the web
- Understanding of best practices in website accessibility (and/or interest in obtaining expertise)
- How to write copy for reading on the web
- Some connection to or understanding of the nonprofit world
